Our young designers days are created for young people, ages 13 to 18, interested in design. 

These sessions give you the opportunity to develop skills associated with textiles.  Our July workshop day will focus on ‘SUMMER STITCH’. In a day, you will be learning to use a pattern to cut and sew a bucket hat.

We will start by learning to cut pattern pieces and machine sewing pieces in the morning.  

Then, in the afternoon, you will assemble and add detailing to your summer bucket hat.

Materials provided: cotton fabrics (both plain and contrast), various threads, pattern pieces and interfacing.

**We also have 2 basic sewing machines that will be available on the day for those who do not have their own sewing machine.

Bring your own: basic sewing kit (needle, threads, pins), sewing machine & manual (if you have one), paper scissors, fabric scissors.  If you have specific cotton patterned fabric you would like to use as your contrast fabric bring a piece approx. 50 x 50 cm in size.  A sketchbook, pencil and coloured pencils are also useful.
