Our young designers days are created for young people, ages 13 to 18, interested in design. 

These sessions give you the opportunity to develop skills associated with textiles.  Our October workshop day will focus on ‘TOP STITCH’. In a day, you will be making a top to wear. 

We will start by learning to cut a pattern.

Then, in the afternoon, you will sew up your top with opportunities for personal embellishments like pockets.

Materials provided: some smaller pieces of fabric, various threads, bias binding and interfacing.

**We also have 2 basic sewing machines that will be available on the day for those who do not have their own sewing machine.

Bring your own: 1.6 meters of fabric (either 1.6 metres of one fabric or 1 metre of main fabric and 0.6m of a contrast fabric), matching thread, basic sewing kit (needle, threads, pins), sewing machine & manual (if you have one).

No previous experience is required, come and enjoy a day of making with us at Tecstiliau.

Recommended fabrics: cottons, linen, polycottons, any lightweight fabric suitable for a top, not stretchy or jersey fabric.

*Remember you can recycle fabrics for our projects by using old sheets, duvet covers or other materials for making.*
