Our young designers days are created for young people, ages 13 to 18, interested in design. 

These sessions give you the opportunity to develop skills associated with textiles.  Our May workshop day will focus on ‘SASHIKO STITCH’. 

For the afternoon you will explore the bold geometric stitch patterns created using this method.

We will start by learning to cut pattern pieces and machine sewing pieces and then assemble and add detailing to your summer bucket hat.

Materials provided: cotton fabrics (both plain and contrast), various threads, needles, hoops.

**We also have 2 basic sewing machines that will be available on the day for those who do not have their own sewing machine.

Bring your own: basic sewing kit (needle, threads, pins), sewing machine & manual (if you have one), paper scissors, fabric scissors.  If you have specific plain solid cotton fabric you would like to use  bring a piece approx. 30 x 30 cm in size.  A sketchbook, pencil and coloured pencils are also useful.
