During the workshop you will explore why and how water soluble fabric is used with examples of how textile artists use it in their work. You will then experiment with three techniques using water soluble fabric by creating: random effects with scraps, a picture, and a thread only piece which could even be  3-D.  As an intermediate course, you need to be able to use a straight free motion embroidery stitch to complete this workshop, so you need to be confident in setting up your machine for free motion embroidery. 

Materials included: Vilene Solufleece (approx. 3 x 8” squares), variety of machine embroidery threads, variety of thicker threads, and a variety of scrap fabrics and sheer fabrics. 

Bring your own: sewing machine (with drop/covered feed dogs) for free motion embroidery, machine manual, spare bobbins, ordinary sewing foot, free motion foot, scissors, spare machine needles, pen, notepad/sketchbook, tape/stapler, pins, thick towel, sheer fabric scraps (like organza), other fabrics (cotton, ribbon, lace), variety of machine sewing/embroidery threads.
