About the Event
Fel rhan o'n prosiect 'Local Threads' a gefnogir gan Gwynedd Greadigol a Chyngor Gwynedd, bydd Rosie Green yn ymuno â ni i siarad am dyfu llinau yng Ngogledd Cymru ar gyfer cynhyrchu lliain. Ydych chi eisiau tyfu a chynaeafu eleni? Mae hon yn sesiwn wych i'ch rhoi ar ben ffordd a dechrau cynllunio.
Dros yr ychydig flynyddoedd diwethaf, mae Rosie wedi gweithio’n llwyddiannus gyda’r cwmni ffermio cydweithredol lleol, Tyddyn Teg i dyfu llinau, cnwd traddodiadol i’r DU a ddefnyddir i greu lliain ar gyfer brethyn.  Mae llawer o feysydd yn ceisio adfywio sgiliau tyfu, prosesu a nyddu llinau ar gyfer lliain ers dirywiad y diwydiant pan gollwyd llawer o’r sgiliau a’r offer.  Bydd Rosie yn dechrau drwy siarad am nodweddion planhigion llinau, tymhorau tyfu, cynaeafu a rhinweddau cnwd cartref.  Bydd hyn yn cael ei ddilyn gan gyflwyniad i'r offer ar gyfer prosesu llinau a'r dulliau ar gyfer nyddu.  Bydd cyfranogwyr hyd yn oed yn cael y cyfle i roi cynnig ar yr offer i weld y potensial i wneud lliain o linau.

As part of our 'Local Threads' project supported by Creative Gwynedd and Gwynedd Council, Rosie Green from @saorimor will be joining us to speak about growing flax in North Wales for the prduction of linen cloth. Do you want to grow and harvest this year? This is a great session to get you started and planning.
Over that last few years, Rosie has successfully worked with local farming co-operative Tyddyn Teg to grow flax, a traditional crop to the UK used to create linen for cloth. Â There are many areas trying to revive the skills of growing, processing and spinning flax for linen since the decline of the industry when many of the skills and equipment were lost. Â Rosie will start by talking about flax plant characteristics, growing seasons, harvest and merits of a homegrown crop. Â This will be followed by an introduction to the tools for processing flax and the methods for spinning. Â Participants will even have the opportunity to try the equipment to see the potential to make linen from flax.
Tea and coffee will be provided.
