During this masterclass with Stewart Kelly you will be encouraged to explore the potential of fusing drawing, weaving and stitching in unique and creative ways. This will be an experimental course, focusing on exploration, and the process of discovery through making. Therefore, the workshop must not be seen as a complete experience, where you will complete a ‘project’, rather you will conclude with ideas and potentials for your own development and future projects. You will be encouraged to work independently, respond to different themes, and share ideas with your peers throughout the course. Therefore, I would encourage you to come with an open mind, willing to try new things and of course, enjoy yourselves! Masterclass Outline: 09.30 – Welcome & Introductions 10.00 – Expressive drawing Session 11.00 – Paper Weaving Session LUNCH 13.30 – Machine Stitch Session 16.00 – Reflection & Feedback 

 Materials provided: Drawing materials, paper,  interfacing, iron, ironing board.  Bring your own: Sewing machine, embroidery foot (if possible), craft knives, cutting mats, ruler, needles, machine threads, embroidery threads, scissors (basic hand sewing kit), pencil/pen, notebook and experimental threads like cord or wire.
