This one-day course is for anyone who would like to explore the idea of painting on to fabric using heat transfer paints. Working on synthetic (polycotton) fabrics we will play with free painting and using resists both natural items and cuts out shapes to create a series of expressive backgrounds. We will use different solutions to vary the colour and vibrancy of the paint and try mixing our own colours. No previous experience of painting or textile work is needed but participants may want to bring a sewing machine for extra embellishment opportunities. You will go home with a set of backgrounds that you can use for any type of embroidery or even quilting.

Materials provided: heat transfer paints, brushes, some fabrics. Bring your own: synthetic fabric (like a polycotton).
