Spinning with a Purpose is a masterclass workshop that is going to give you the confidence to spin the yarn you want to spin for any project. We’ll cover diameter control, look at different plying techniques, and discuss the merits of different fibre types and different blends, time allowing we’ll also take a look at twist levels and how those variables can dramatically change your yarn. It’s primarily aimed at knitters, but if you crochet or weave you’ll still get something out of the day. This workshop is suitable for anyone who is an advanced beginner or beyond. You need to be able yarn that has a reasonable degree of consistency in twist and diameter. 

Materials provided: fibre and other resources. Bring your own: your spinning wheel, spare bobbins (ideally 3, but more will probably come in handy) Optional- A niddy noddy to wind off samples, a lazy kate - ideally a stand-alone example. The bobbin holders on most wheels do not work well for more complex plying techniques.

Please make sure your wheel is in good working order before we start the workshop. Time we spend getting drive bands mended, scotch tension fixed etc. is time we can’t spend on the technical aspects of the workshop. You will get more out of the workshop if you have done some spinning recently.
